ABOUT US

We started our love of the Chinese Shar-Pei in 1991 with a very eccentric black horsecoat named Sweeter N’ BlackberryJam (OFA Good) and called BJ. BJ was a Chang Bang daughter and was the beginning of our love of this breed. Although we got her as a pet and guard dog, which she was faithfully for 10 years, she did become our foundation bitch. She turned 10 in November of 2001 and we lost her soon after that to Lympho-sarcoma; a very aggressive cancer. BJ had been so healthy her whole life and then was gone so quickly. We will never forget her and treasure our memories of her. BJ had two lovely litters. Her daughter, CH Harv’s Sparkler Spectacular has her personality and was Winner’s Bitch at the 1999 Nationals. She has had three litters, and received her ROM in 2004. She is the dam of BIS, BISS Ch. Harv’s Foster Rasberry Muffin (OFA Good), the only horsecoat Chinese Shar Pei to ever win Best in Show. She is also the only horsecoat and bitch to win the Top 25 Invitational for CSP which she did in 2003. In Dec. 2003, Muffin had her 1st litter. She was bred to CH. Shenanigan’s Storm Surge. They had 8 puppies. These puppies are now being shown. We have Harv’s Huntin’ for Rasberries and Harv’s Rasberry Kissez. They both won the Bred By horsecoat class at the 2004 Nat’l. They also won the Best Futurity Horsecoat Puppy in dog and bitch class. Sparkler also has a new litter out of Storm Surge that will soon be old enough to show.

Our second Shar Pei was CH Saki’s Lil’ Ladybugz. She was born in 1993 and we got her from Sam and Kim Goza who wanted her to be shown and so she was the beginning of our showing dogs.   She is very cute and quite wrinkly to this very day.  She is still quite the boss around here.  She was the mother of CH. Harv’s Red Rover Plezcumover (OFA Fair) who was the sire of Muffin.

Our third Shar Pei was CH Harv’s Texas Time Bomb of Katy.  He is very special to us.  We got him from Sam and Kim also.  He did very well in his show career and is now coming out only occasionally to show in Veterans.  He was born on Feb. 20, 1994.    We have several of his kids; CH Harv’s Yankee Doodle (OFA Good) who won BISS at the Florida Specialty before the Florida Nat’l in 2000,  Sparkler is his daughter, and CH Harv’s Lil’ Scarlet Sweettart.  Boomer loves puppies and at 11 is still enjoying playing with them.

Another one of our special kids is CH Harv’s Apple of My Eye.  She is the daughter of Sparkler and Red Rover and the littermate of Muffin.  We have one of her daughters Harv’s Favorite Apple Strudel.

In March of 2001 we got a dog from Judy and Tim Meitin.  His name is CH Meiting Odds on Favorite (OFA Good) and he is called Aggie.  He is Strudel’s dad and the sire of Sparkler’s 2nd litter.  Their daughter CH. Harv’s Just a Touch of Spice was in the Top Dogs of 2004.  She won WB at the Specialty the day before Nat’l in 2003.

We really love this breed and only breed quality litters after much thought and planning. We think long and hard before breeding, and therefore don’t have puppies very often. We have been very fortunate as God has blessed us with healthy dogs and very loving pets. He has also blessed us with some exciting wins in the show ring. We really enjoy all of our dogs and our hobby of showing them has been a lot of fun for us. We enjoy getting away together and meeting other “dog” people who love the breed as much as we do.
